Recently someone told me that it “probably wasn’t the right time” to learn the CEO Operating System.

I completely understand that. Things are busy. CEOs are under pressure.

But it made me wonder: When is the WRONG time to start running your business more effectively? What makes it “not the right time” to start doing something so fundamental to your success?

It’s like putting off working on your fitness until you have the energy and stamina to work out. The logic doesn’t hold.

The truth is, there’s never a “convenient” time to step back and work on your CEO skills. There will always be pressing issues demanding your attention. After decades as a CEO, I’ve learned that the urgent will always crowd out the important - unless you make a conscious decision otherwise.
